What Platform Should Your Site Run On?
Good news: you have options. I build and manage websites on WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and more. Not sure which one is right for you? Here’s a quick breakdown:
WordPress
WordPress is the most widely used CMS in the world - and for good reason. At it's core it's blogging software, not a full featured CMS. But, it's flexible, beginner-friendly on the back end, and has a massive library of plugins. Great for blogs, business sites, portfolios, and online stores. It can get pricey - almost everything is an add-on (like e-commerce).
Joomla
Joomla sits in the middle ground between WordPress and Drupal. It's more powerful out of the box than WordPress and handles complex content structures well - things like membership sites, multilingual content, or directories. It can initially be confusing to WP users, but it gives you more built-in flexibility without needing as many costly add-ons.
Drupal
Drupal is the heavy-duty option. It's what large organizations and government sites often run on because it handles massive amounts of content and complex permissions like a champ. It's not the easiest to manage yourself, but if your site has serious scale or security requirements, Drupal is worth the investment.
